marcus: reading epi and donberto’s exchange on body, soul and spirit reminds of an article that asks which is YOU, the body? the soul?
the scenario is a comatose patient. his son was contemplating if it is still his father that is with them lying on the bed. imo gone is the soul, the living him, his consciousness, the personality. now its nothing but the shell.

EMA:  A comatose person is still alive. He is the soul who is near death.

marcus: the patient is kept breathing by the machine. braindead. is the YOU still there?

EMA:  Yes, as long as he is not dead. When he dies, it is the non-conscious spirit in man, not the man, which returns to God who gave it.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it.

el Kapre:  and how could it be possible ka epi that the body is alive but the soul is dead?

EMA:  Not possible. The soul, nephesh, is the man himself.

Epi, is blood circulation the binding force that holds the soul to the body?

EMA: You might have misunderstood my belief, doc, on the soul. To me, the soul is not separate from the man. The soul is the man himself.

Talking about blood, life is in the blood.

Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood.

red dog: Flesh is the body and man is also the soul. So when the flesh or body is terminated man or the soul separates. Ganoon ba yun Epi.?

EMA:  Not so, doc. Man or soul is the complete flesh, blood, bones, sinews, etc. plus that added ingredient called spirit or breath if the man is alive. Without that spirit or breath, that man is dead. It bears repeating that the spirit has no consciousness of itself.

Many professing bible believers believe that soul is something indestructible and immortal in a man which separates from the man at death and continuous to live on. This belief is simply not what the bible teaches.

Man is mortal and has no immortality in him. He is subject to decay or corruption. For this reason, he needs to put on incorruption and immortality. I know you don’t believe in the bible doc, but let me just quote the bible verse to show the basis of my belief.

1 Corinthians 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

If it were true that man has a soul which is incorruptible and immortal as commonly believed, there would be no need to still put on incorruption and immortality.

The problem is, its not true.

EMA:  Be careful with your post dd. I feel uncomfortable when you agree with me.
