Antonio Pirote No, it is a fact. You are anti-Sabbath, at least. So, what can an anti-Sabbath person share with the readers? It is just fact.

Cog Fwl You have an error of fact; a judge who abused his discretion by judging me as an “anti-Sabbath” without getting all the facts.

Antonio Pirote So, what can an anti-Sabbath person share with the readers? It is just fact.

Cog Fwl Had you answered my 3 questions on the Sabbath, I would have shared with the readers what Sabbath is aside from its being attached to a law for the children of Israel.

1. What does Sabbath mean? Answer: It means rest. It means cessation from work.
2. What does Sabbath picture? Answer: It pictures that period when God ceases from his work, particularly on man.

In the Garden of Eden God rested on the 7th day after finishing his creative work for the past 6 days.

Genesis 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

This scene in Genesis 2 pictures that day when God shall have finished his work on man who shall have been changed to spirit “like Him”. Man ceases from his own “work” as a Spirit indwelt person as God ceases “from His”.

Hebrews 4:8 For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. 10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.

After that 1st 7th day, God and Jesus Christ “have been working until now”, the “now” happened to be a 7th day when Jesus told this fact to the Jews.

John 5:8 Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” 9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked.
And that day was the Sabbath. 10 The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.”
11 He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.’”
12 Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?” 13 But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place. 14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”
15 The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
16 For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill Him, because He had done these things on the Sabbath. 17 But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.”

3. What makes the Sabbath day a law?

When provisions of what could be done and not done on the Sabbath are decreed, the Sabbath becomes attached to a law. The dos and don’ts on the Sabbath were specifically instructed to the children of Israel who have just been released from a life of not knowing the God of their fathers and of idolatry in Egypt. God introduced himself to them by signs and wonders after which, he tested them as to whether or not he will recognize and obey him.

Exodus 16:4 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you. And the people shall go out and gather a certain quota every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not.

When the Ten Commandments were given to the children of Israel, the previously given Sabbath law was added to be remembered by them.

Exodus 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

The Sabbath law is to be kept by the Israelites as an identifying sign between God and Israel throughout their generations so that, and note this, Israel will Know the Lord who sanctifies them.

Exodus 31:13 “Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you.

Profaning the Sabbath as commanded brings death to the violator of the law.

14 You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. 15 Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.

Therefore, the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant to them.

16 Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant.

There is no law attached to the Sabbath given to Christians. Instead of being an anti-Sabbath as alleged, I look forward to that day when the realization of what it pictures, God’s cessation from his work on man happens. This is so because by then, I shall have been changed to spirit to be “like Him”.
