Great Commission

Believers refer to Jesus’ command to teach in all nations around the world the observance of what he has commanded them.

Matthew 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Before radio and television, and now the internet, reaching people to fulfil this commission was difficult.  Possible, as has been done, but difficult.  Physically reaching people that is.

In these technologically advanced times, the difficulty lies not in reaching people physically but reaching their hearts and minds to spare moments to listen to what a believer would say.  The “ultra-modern” man is so engrossed with the affairs of this world he hardly has time to even contemplate that his life on this earth is but for a short while only.

The Bible refers to our modern time, as “the last days” of this age (the everlasting age with God immediately follows) describing it as perilous.

2 Timothy 3:1-5 “But know this, that in the last days, perilous time will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the form of godliness but denying its power.”

What an accurate description of our attitudes and the days we live in!

The book of Daniel also graphically describes our “time of the end” as the days when “many shall run to and fro (how small the world has become with modern means of travel), and knowledge shall increase” (Daniel 12:4).  Only with the coming of the communication wonders such as television, mobile phones, the internet and what more to come are we able to appreciate the magnitude of Daniel’s “knowledge shall increase” description.

All the more we, who have been privileged (blessed is more appropriate) with having been given the ears that could hear what Jesus’ has commanded, should take heed to now teach peoples similarly blessed with hearing who are spread in all nations throughout the world, “to observe all things that” Jesus have commanded us.

Hence we, who are treading the Friendship Way Life, are doing this foremost and will continue to do so!
